FruitBrewz

My company is finally being acquired by Japan's top pharmaceutical company. This should be a good news because we had a stable financial support yet allow us to remain autonomous in our country. We had the management giving us a welcome meeting on Friday followed by a buffet lunch reception catered from GWP hotel. The food was good and we packed all the leftovers back to the our office at the end of the reception.

After work, 6 of us ladies attended the Networking party held within our hub organised by this company for their 10th anniversary. Had some red wine and beer. There was some salsa dance and magic show. We left after a while and went ahead to chill out at BW.

As we had our tummy half-filled with beer and food before arriving, we only ordered a pizza and finger food. The food there was great. We shared garlic-herb fries, calamari, buffalo wings and a hawaiian. We met 2 of our bosses ( Sg and UK ) who came to drink as well but they left as they could not find seats. It was a crowded night. Well, though we invited them to join us, they thought it was better to just leave us alone.

We were supposed to drink our hearts out, but 3 of them were too bloated. And the 3 of us only ordered a pint of Fruitbrewz to share. I requested for some shot glasses so that we can pour out the beer from the beer mug, but it turned out to be like this ( background of photo ).... in a huge beer glass. It's just impossible to pour it out without spilling so we tried using a soup spoon to scoop, followed by the teaspoon and the tablespoon. The waiter was kind enough to bring us all types of spoons... I must really commend him for his good patience in serving a bunch of morons..They British folks sitting beside us were pretty amused by our actions..kept smiling to themselves.. but we just couldn't be bothered.

Like Poles Repel, Opposite Attracts

Do opposite really attracts? Was it momentarily or forever?
Men are from Mars and Women, from Venus.
Why do Men get attracted to Women and vice versa,
When they possess notions that are worlds apart?
Whether you are the Man or the Woman,
Showing love is always different.
I know Man who are so very rational with Woman so sentimental.
I see Woman who are so independent sticking around with a man who cherishes her every moment. It's never equal and the party who's more emotional will tend to lose out.
Though love is sacrificing, it takes both hands to clap.
It takes time for acceptance, understanding, tolerance and forgiveness.
Lacking just one, would create rocks.
It was the difference that attracted both, yet it may be the difference that split them up.
That explains the increase of homosexuals in this universe where Martians would go with Martians and Venusians would stick with Venusians.
But even then, some difference would evolve.
So the challenge would be to overcoming your differences.
But is it really true that like poles repel and opposite attracts?
Isn't it better to have a partner sharing the same perception of love?

Missing Blues

I'm like a fish, I belong to the sea.
It's been 6 months, since I last flee.
I need the salinity from the ocean,
To keep my sanity on land.
I'm gonna be dry for another 3 months,
In order to dive with my friends.
I need the tank, I need the tank
Please bring me back to where I dreamt.
My pals in the sea,
They're waiting for me.
Pygmies and Rays,
They are so far away.
Hey friends hey friends,
Come dive with me
We'll explore the magical sea.

Another Round of Celebrations

February is a very busy month for me. V-day, CNY and our anniversary all falls on the same month. And it also means that I had been busy with buying and making gifts, cleaning up my room and my task of preparing this year's reunion dinner for my family.

I made a bottle of chocolate chip cookies for V-day and bought a jersey for our anniversary. Wanted to finish a cross-stitch pouch to hold a key-pouch but did not managed to complete in time.

Mum requested me to make dinner for CNY and I was very excited. It took me a while to create a 4-course Western dinner menu and I was really anxious and apprehensive of any screw-ups on that annual occasion. Though I've baked and made simple dishes for my family, I've never prepared any main course for them. Thus, cooking still remains a challenge to me.

I woke up early on that Saturday and started preparations from 11am. I worked my way through the whole afternoon right till 5pm where I started baking every 30 mins right up till dinner at 7pm. I was terribly tired after the whole preparation and ended up with a bad headache... Makes me feel kinda useless... I didn't seemed to have much appetite though the food turned up to me better than I had expected. Mum told me that it's very common for the cook not to eat their own food. That's why she always eat so little. It's just like seeing how the cooked food actually come from the raw ingredients and all food tastes blend without any seasoning...

The worse part of the whole preparation is actually marinating the whole chicken... I kept procrastinating but could not avoid massaging the headless dead chicken with countless goose pimples. I've done on parts like wings and drumsticks alone but never the whole chicken...and I guess I'll probably never do it again... or maybe with gloves in future.

This was the end result:

This was my menu:

Appetiser/Salad: Pasta Salad ( Accidentally deleted the photo, it's beside the french onion soup)

Starter/Soup: French Onion Soup

Main Course: Black Pepper Roast Chicken stuffed with mushrooms, potatoes and veg

Dessert: Chocolate Satin Pie

All turned out satisfactory and my parents seemed to be impressed by my cooking..hehe..well, at least mum have not tried preparing these before.. Though the food didn't looked a lot, all 3 of us were filled to our neck... Mum was hoping that I can take over her role in future on this day...*Oh no*

As planned, Love and I met up after dinner for a movie at MS. Ghost-rider wasn't that fanastic afterall. We planned to go for supper after movie, but as I was too tired after the whole day's work, so we headed home.

On the first day of CNY, Love came over to visit my parents and I brought him to Granny's house for the first time... Well, needless to say..he got bored after 2 hours so we left for dinner.

On the second day, his mum invited me to their house to lao yu sheng. His relatives came over for mahjong session and both of us were bored and stranded in his room with his 2 dogs.... It was a dull day for us as well...CNY is always so boring.

On the third day, I was invited to D's house for a gathering. They ordered KFC and C pizza during the DVD session. Very glad to learn about Carol's pregnancy. Met Love in the evening for kite-flying. This was what we did 1 year ago on this day and we intend to make it a tradition. He bought a fabric one, which costs $15 to keep and I bought the cheaper one. The wind was good and we were both expecting it to last for about an hour when our kites got entangled. As I tried to release mine from his...preparing to forgo mine cos there's not enough thread, his snapped the moment mine was released. And there goes our kites in 30 minutes... " Oh no..I'm probably gonna pester you for the rest of your life..." I commented cheekily. Dinner has to start early since it was nearby. We had steamboat followed by a chill-out by the River.

We went back to work for a day and started celebrating our anniversary on the following. He brought me to Ma Maison and got the waitress to surprise me with a bouquet of roses. We window-shopped for a while and got to know more about diamonds. He appreciates diamonds as much as I do. We checked out an exhibition the day after and a session of ktv in the evening.
On Saturday, I met the Yu and Juan to skate. It was fun and not as tiring as we've been talking throughout and I had no time to concentrate on the ache on my feet and my fear of falls.

Yu wanted to leave her skates at home before going to Juan's house, so we followed her. Juan's new house was spacious and neat. Her mum invited us to Lao Yu Sheng and they really make us feel like home.

I wonder what would my next February be like..
