The first celebration was for Don, a temp staff in my company which was going 21. We celebrated for her at Marche at Vivocity. And then a series of celebrations that came after that was for me... all thanks to my relatively big circle of friends:)
10th July was supposed to be a gathering for the
Bali group as most of them would be able to make it. We had dinner at a seafood restaurant also, at Vivo. They surprised me with a cheesecake, though I kinda spotted the cake before they brought it out.. they weren't secretive enough. I got home pretty late , at about 11.30pm and I found Love sitting at the staircase, with a large gift and a slice of cake in his hand, waiting for me. That really took me back. I was, of course, pleasantly surprised. We blew the candle at midnight and I unwrapped my mystery gift. It was a 500-pc Mickey and Minnie jigsaw that I pointed out while we were walking pass a shop months back. It may sound easy to some.. but for someone who has never fixed a puzzle, I think it was a great achievement.
On the 11th, I got a bouquet from Love and a surprise gift from my colleagues who tried to pretend not remembering my birthday. Well, I didn't really expect them to remember as birthday celebrations are not a common culture in my office.
In the evening, Love brought me to Dan Ryan's. A pretty quite spot located at Tanglin Mall. It has an Old American Chicago theme and it was a gastronomic experience to dine there. The sauteed mushrooms were irrisistable.12th July was a night out with the Crab family. My whole family are cancerians so every year, we would find a day on this month to dine out. We seldom dine out as a family because cancerians are homely creatures. Mum found a place called Brazilian Carnivores, and as the name implies, it serves mainly meat. I'm not a great meat-eater, but my parents are. However, the meat tastes really juicy and tender. Although I don't appreciate meat, but I can tell that this restaurant serves good quality meat. They have a section for vegetables as well. Most importantly, the service was excellent. That was my best high-protein-low-carb meal of all time.
On the 14th July, ASHLY organised a picnic as I'd requested to celebrate outdoor. So each of them bought food and groceries... and we had a fun time playing taboo at the beach. We got bored and started taking photos in the oncoming waves , taking the most boring videos of live clams and started building a sandcastle. It's been a long time ever since our last picnic and we certain wished for more to come..without getting burnt though.
Weijie gave me a treat at Ajisen and some Mochis at the food fest at Taka on the 17th.
My ex-colleagues celebrated my hatch-day on the 19th at Swensons. They even surprised my with another cake, an ice-cream one with Disney Prints. I remembered the last time I got a Disney cake was when I was 3.
This is not the end, I'll be meeting Qi on the 2ng Aug for a steamboat treat as well.
Apart from birthday celebrations, my colleagues and I have been hanging out at our office till late 1 day for these 3 consecutive weeks. We set up our own pub and bought lots of food for dinner and and had loads of fun and laughter, chilling out in our small but cosy pantry... The best part is to make people drunk and observe how they slur, talk and smile non-stop... We brought all kinds of alcohol: beer, white and red wine, sake, tequila, XO, Kahlua and champagne. This is a company of alcoholics. Anyway, Boss was aware of our mini pub but did not interfere in anyway since it was after office hours.
I guess I've inevitably put on a lot of pounds after shedding them last month. It's time to workout again.
